The new £18 million office block was commissioned by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to accommodate around 1,000 workers being transferred from Sellafield to Whitehaven. 50% of the subcontracted companies working on the project came from West Cumbria.

Alison Chippington,
Pre Contract Manager
I’ve been with Morgan Sindall for 25 years. I started as a summer placement student during my civil engineering degree. At university it’s very theoretical but I really loved being on site – that’s why I stayed. I joined the graduate training programme and became a chartered engineer six years later. I now have the opportunity to mentor both undergraduates and graduates, and really enjoy sharing their passion for engineering.
Morgan Sindall is a great place to work because you’re encouraged to be innovative and to challenge – we are always looking to improve. I work collaboratively with everyone, from the site teams to our joint venture partners.
It’s my job to help identify opportunities for Morgan Sindall and to lead the team to win that work.
I like feeling that I can make a difference and I can contribute to the overall success of Morgan Sindall. You can really be a part of it and influence the direction of the company. We do such a wide range of work and I’m very proud of that. It’s incredibly rewarding to be a part of a close team which makes these complex projects happen.
Elizabeth Halliday,
Building Services Manager
I have a varied role working on bids and guiding our design teams to the best solutions for our customers and Morgan Sindall.
I feel that I am a valued member of the team, and can influence our design teams enabling us to provide our customers with the best facilities possible. It’s a great feeling to be able to make a difference to people’s lives, and the environment.
I hope to progress and develop my career within Morgan Sindall and the construction industry. I’ve worked as a part-time tutor at the University of Strathclyde, where I studied for my Masters, and visiting speaker at the University of Dundee, so this is also something I would like to develop. I view every day as a learning day.
As a working mum, I feel supported to develop my career while enjoying spending time with my young family.
